As you know, I’m a little obsessed with games. For my 40th
birthday this year I had hoped to arrange a sponsored 24 hour board gaming
marathon however with COVID-19 it looks unlikely I’ll be able to do things
exactly the way I’d wanted.
Instead, I wondered if I could do an online 24hour board
game marathon and wondered if you wanted to join in!

My idea is that from 4am on on Saturday 17th April until 4am on Sunday 15th April I will
live stream myself on YouTube me playing online games for 24 hours and
attempting to raise as much money for CHAS as possible. I plan to use a few
different platforms to play the games but most likely it will be mainly using
Board Game Arena https://boardgamearena.com/
and games on my iPhone or iPad using IOS. I would like to do video chats with
my opponents using zoom or facetime at the same time as playing the games too
If I can have a limited number of people over at the house
to play a physical board game, I’d like to do that too (and live stream it). Obviously,
this depends on current COVID restrictions.
Board Game Arena is free to play, with a small fee to
upgrade to full membership. My board
game arena username and my apple Game center nickname is richardspruce – feel
free to add me as a friend if you sign up.
I’m going to set up a just giving page to manage the
sponsorship so if you’d rather not play games and just want to donate to a good
cause that’s always an option.
I’d probably want to schedule certain people and/or games
depending on what time it is. If you’d be interested in playing games with me
to celebrate my 40th please, especially if you’d be willing to play
in the middle of the night for the graveyard shift, please let me know. I’ll
get back to you with more details as and when I make them!
