Having been inspired by Richard’s efforts during the 2022 London Marathon, Craig, and Claire have decided to go for a run with a mate and help Richard complete one final challenge with the aim of raising over £30,000 to help raise awareness for Motor Neurone Disease (MND)
Richard is embarking on a truly awe-inspiring mission - running seven miles every day for six days and on the seventh day, Richard will run from the John Smith Stadium in Huddersfield to the start line of the Rob Burrow Marathon in Leeds where he will be joined by Craig to finish his ultra-marathon. At this finish line Richard will have completed a total of 43 miles in one day.
Having all played Rugby League at some stage, all three have been affected by Rob Borrows story and the efforts Kevin Sinfield has gone to raise money to fight MND. Like Sir Kev, this will be Richard’s third and final challenge having already completed 7 miles for 7days with his sons Roman and Riley and the London Marathon raising over £11,000 in the process.
This challenge requires courage and determination which will be an inspiration to many, but it will also require superhuman physical strength, endurance, and next level mental toughness to run a total of 85 miles in one week.
Many of you will be aware of the “Ice Bucket” challenge but not many of you will associate that with MND. MND is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord killing just under 2,200 per year in the UK.
When the going gets tough, Richard will push through with optimism and hope, knowing that his pain and suffering serves a greater cause. Such sacrifice is admirable, and truely selfless, so please give what you can to help support Richard achieve his goal of hitting £20,000 for this worthy cause.
