Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In October 2013 a creative husband, father, brother, friend & son Daniel ended his life during a severe dip in his normally well-managed depressive illness. He is survived by his wife Diane, Joel (6.5), Jude (3) and lots of close friends and family.
He had lots to live for and no "reason" for ending his life,
except that he was unable to recognise this. Despite accepting treatment, and having support from friends, family and his faith, his depression was just too great.
Mental illness is common, affecting one in four of us to
some degree. Although, mercifully, most of us will not
experience depression to the point of suicide, it is not
uncommon either. However, funding for research into
mental illness and for care and treatment lags behind every
"physical" illness and there still exists stigma and
misunderstanding.
The Mental Health Foundation is one of the UK’s largest mental health charities funding research, providing services, campaigning to reduce stigma and discrimination, and promoting good mental well-being for all.
We really believe in the work MHF does and believe funding more of it will make life so much easier for many people affected by mental illness, whether sufferers or carers.
Thanks to Amos Trust for dividing the funds raised between the MHF & their Human Rights work among traumatised children in Gaza.
