Story

Anna lost her fight against Cancer long before she had the chance to see her young family grow and to celebrate being 50.

She helped the disadvantaged and always brought her smile.

A great friend from school, I have wanted to raise money for St. Michael's since she passed but only now have I been able to do so.

St. Michael's Hospice was established in 1991 by a committee led by former Mayor Margaret Weston. Their mission was simple, to offer a choice and understanding of complex conditions in the dying.  Over 25 years later, and caring for over 500 patients a year across the community, St. Michael's leads the provision of the highest quality palliative care throughout North Hampshire and offers more choice than ever.  The spirit, ambition and drive presented by the founding committee continue in our staff to this day and remain at the heart of all our work.

The “3 4 50 challenge” is about me doing 3 events in my 50th year to raise funds for four very important charities that have impacted people
in my life.

Its also personal! Most of you will know that I cycle a bit, but most won’t know that I was unable to for 14 months.

After getting ill I needed two operations to help me get better. I didn’t know if I’d be able to cycle again. Finding out that I can has driven me to do as much as I can for others whilst I am still able to.

50 is a big birthday and key year for many people and very much so for me. My dad passed away in his 50th year and in his memory, I am raising money for the forces family that was important to him.

2 amazing people and friends sadly didn’t get the opportunity to celebrate their 50th birthdays with us. Two beautiful ladies making a difference to people’s lives taken way too early by Cancer. In memory of these special ladies I am raising money for two charities that were full of incredible people caring for them throughout their fights – Sue Ryder and St. Micheal’s Hospices.

This is also for all family members and friends affected by Cancer.

Within my family and circle of friends we have been affected by the impact of heart disease. Gratefully saving and extending life through amazing heart surgery teams but also sadly losing my Uncle Steve. In his memory I am riding from London to Brighton for the British Heart Foundation.
