Story
This is my 3rd time running the Reading Half Marathon! My first time was 10 years ago but it's been a while since I've tackled it. My goal is to go under 2 hours and as I've lost 2 stone over the last 4 months (thanks Slimming World!), I'm probably the fittest I've been to achieve this goal.
This year I'm running for Thames Valley Air Ambulance. It's a fantastic service that has saved lives of people I know. It often flies over, and lands near, to where I live so it has a very visible presence in Reading. One thing you may not know is that Thames Valley Air Ambulance is completely self funded and relies on the generosity of the communities it serves. It is not government funded and receives no National Lottery funding. Your donations are what keeps its vital service operational.
Thames Valley Air Ambulance is at the frontline of saving lives. Together we make a difference - helping our community when they need us most. Our paramedics, doctors and pilots are highly trained and ready for any eventuality, giving you the best chance when the worst happens.Every day, somebody in our community could be in urgent need of our services.
Within minutes, we bring the expertise, equipment and treatment of the hospital to them. This means that a patient is treated and given hospital-level care quicker, increasing their chance of survival. The support we receive allows us to deliver advanced medical care to people in a medical emergency night and day, 365 days a year*.
So please support me in my goal to raise some funds for this wonderful service!
*We fly in the hours of darkness, but are not a 24 hour service.
