Story
[Thank you for all your donations. I'm not able to thank all of you personally through JustGiving and, in some cases, I may not have another way to contact you. You can be certain, though, that I appreciate every single donation.]
I love walking, but this’ll be a challenge! 100km, (62 miles), of the Thames footpath. Day 1 starting at Putney Bridge, a snooze at Runnymede, then up early for Day 2 and the finish line at Henley. Beautiful scenery, in the company of thousands of others supporting many good causes.
I'm raising money for Chums, in particular Bedfordshire Suicide Bereavement Service (BSBS), run by Chums Charity to help people of any age following their tragic loss.
And it's personal. 8 years ago this September our daughter Becki died, aged just 23. She is the reason behind much that our family does, so this walk is, quite literally, the next step.
BSBS started a couple of years after Becki’s death, so we’ve seen it from the beginning. Out of a small team has come a depth of empathy and support that is truly remarkable. Many people have been helped and more will need it. Now I'm a volunteer as well, and it's a privilege to be part of this amazing organisation.
So, anything you can give to put a spring in my step would be very welcome. See you at the other end!
