Story
Against our better judgement on Sunday 2nd April, Fred and I will be running the full 26.219 miles (but who’s counting) of the Paris marathon for our chosen charity Prevent Breast Cancer.
You might be wondering why I’ve been swapping lagers for lucozades and pounding the pavements of London for the last few months.
At the age of 7, I lost my mum Caroline to breast cancer. At that age it’s hard to really understand what’s happened, and it’s not something I talk a lot about because it’s still very painful. The reason why I’ve decided to talk about her story is because of the power that awareness can have on saving others’ lives. Given the huge ramifications breast cancer has had on mine – I want to do everything I can to make sure that other people I care about don’t have to go through the same.
Earlier this year Sue Richards, a very close family friend of Fred’s, also lost her life to this cancer. David, Bruno, Izzy and Lily have been amazingly strong and already raised vital funds for the charity. Her bravery and strength were inspiring and a testament to the amazing person she was. It will be an honour to run in her memory.
Prevent Breast Cancer takes cancer research a step further – the aim of Prevent Breast Cancer is to stop future generations from even being diagnosed. The money we raise will contribute towards their goal of £3.5 million to build the National Breast Imaging Academy which will enable an extra 13,000 of patients to be seen every year!
Any donations you can make will be so so appreciated, really hope to make mum and Sue proud through our running (and fundraising!)
