Story

As many of my friends will know I fulfilled one of my lifetime ambitions to visit Everest Basecamp and run the Everest Marathon in November/December 2019. The organisation who arranged my trip and event was the Original Everest Marathon (OEM)
https://www.facebook.com/original.everest.marathon

They support Nepalese charities including Community Action Nepal (CAN). CAN was set up by Doug Scott one of our most accomplished mountaineers who famously camped 300 ft below the summit of Everest without Oxygen on his ascent. Unfortunately Doug was diagnosed with a brain cancer in March as the Covid lock down began. He is raising money climbing his stairs in his house in his original Everest clothing.

Nepal is a very poor country and relies almost entirely on the money brought in by climbers and tourism. Covid has stopped this income stream completely and so the people are suffering great hardship. The OEM are also raising funds for  Unite for Nepal
https://www.unitefornepal.com/ which is a UK-based foundation dedicated to the support, development and growth of community-driven health and well-being and equal opportunity initiatives in rural Nepal.

On September 4th I will be attempting to run the 44 miles from the Lizard Point in Cornwall to Lands End along the Southwest Coastal Path in an event organised by Endurancelife. It is called the Classic Quarter
https://www.endurancelife.com/classic-quarter. The event is chip timed and I believe there will be living tracking of competitors

At the age of 66 this will be my first attempt at Ultramarathon. To give me that added incentive to complete the race, ask that you sponsor me to raise money for the Nepalese people.

Thanks

Richard
