Story
I started running 2 years ago and completed my first half marathon in Stratford-Upon-Avon, May 2017. Two months before this, my Gran passed away, after being a sufferer of dementia. Witnessing someone close to you suffer this horrible disease made me realise how important the support and care anyone living with dementia actually needs to improving their daily lives.
Since this, I have wanted to run a marathon to raise funds for this great cause. Having been unsuccessful in getting a place in the London marathon, I had to look further a field for another ‘major’ marathon.
Witnessing my sister and thousands of other runners take part In the 2019 London marathon has given me the inspiration I needed to get me going.
In July 2019 I will be running Leamington Spa’s half marathon and then at the end of September I will be jetting off to Berlin to run my first ever marathon. I’m challenging myself to do something I’ve never done before to hopefully raise lots of money wouldn't towards a charity close to my heart.
Alzheimer’s Society is the only UK charity that campaigns for change, funds research to find a cure and supports people living with dementia today.
Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes and there’s currently no cure.
We know it is scary facing up to it, but we must confront the biggest health and social care challenge of our time.
Thanks to your support and generous donations I am hoping this will get me through the tough challenge of running 26.2 miles and we can run down Dementia.
