Story

Have you ever wanted to climb Mount Everest?

Do you like the sound of reaching 8,848m above sea level, the highest point on Earth,

No Me Neither  BUT this was something that Robin always wanted to
do and he had consumed a mixture of 101 films, TV shows and books on the subject.

25th May 2020 will be the 1 year anniversary of when Robin made it to Everest's summit but then tragically collapsed and died
only 150m down from the peak.

My Challenge

Whilst my challenge will be in no way as gruelling as Robins I will be
looking to make it as hard as possible after all this is what he would have wanted.

I will be climbing the height of Everest using the stairs in my house.

Single Step Height:-   20cm
Number of Steps:-     13
Total Height of all steps:-  260cm
Total Height of Everest in meters:-  8848m
Total Height of Everest in CM:- 884,800cm

Total number of complete climbs required (all
steps) 3403

I will be looking to add :-

  • Weighted Vest + Sleeping Bag
  • Altitude Mask (to restrict breathing)
  • All sleep will take place outside in sleeping bag - I am hoping for no rain as I am not going to be carrying a sleeping bag.

I will also be looking to complete this challenge as fast as possible.  I have seen similar challenges on the internet where people have done this over 4 - 12 weeks.

My goal to complete this is 3 days.

Starting:-    22nd May 7pm
Finishing:-  25th May (Target\Goal)

At the moment I am not sure if this is possible in that time-frame but that is certainly the goal. If I have not finished I will keep going until I have done..

I will be making regular posts throughout the challenge on this page.

Any money raised will go to The Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospitals as well as NHS Nightingale in Birmingham where our 20,000 members of staff are working tirelessly to care for the patients. The staff are staying at work for you, and are asking you to stay at home for them but your donations will help us support them and the NHS in this critical hour of need.
