Raising funds to build water wells in the communities of Sierra Leone

Story

Dear All

Firstly many thanks to those that have sponsored me in my previous Ironman, all your kind donations helped Project Dream to complete the school in Sierra Leone.

On the 18th August 2019 I am under taking another, 3.8km swim, 180km bike and 42km run in Denmark, Copenhagen. This will be my LAST Ironman challenge. So again my life outside of work (apart from my lovely family) is currently spent in the sea, pounding the streets or trying to clock up miles on the bike to retrain my body for the challenge ahead.

Some may think I’m crazy (no comment) to do it all again, especially as I feel this time will be more of a challenge knowing what it will be put my body through, however after hearing and seeing the difference Project Dream is making to people’s lives in Sierra Leone, it has only encouraged me more to conquer this challenge to be able to raise money so that Project Dream can continue making a difference to people’s lives.

Since my last Ironman challenge, Project Dream has only grown and is now a registered charity in UK & Wales. Project Dream has built bridges to connect communities which previously people and children would have had to attempt to cross which led to many deaths. Project Dream has also had an impact on particular individuals, such as a young girl named Sarah. Sarah’s wheelchair was in such disrepair that it meant she was unable to attend school. Project Dream heard her story and was able to help Sarah by providing her with a new wheel chair. Sarah now attends school every day and is happy that she has been given the opportunity to achieve her dreams.

Project Dream is about ensuring that as many children as possible in Sierra Leone have the opportunity of education to achieve their dreams. Project Dream also aims to help the communities of Sierra Leone by providing not only education, but by providing facilities for safe drinking water and medical facilities. Project Dream is already currently working on water wells to provide fresh clean water for villages in Sierra Leone.

The everyday challenges faced through poverty is something most of us are lucky enough to not ever experience, However this is an issue that people in towns like Bradford (Sierra Leon) face and with no government support, the communities rely on intervention from individual charities or organisations such as Project Dream.

My mission is to help Project Dream and raise £4,000 by the end of 2019. With the money raised we will support Project Dream to build a library in Sierra Leone that will be available to all schools in the surrounding communities and open to around 4,000 children or more. So please can I kindly ask for your donations from the “just Giving” link below.
