Story
I am stepping outside my comfort zone once again to raise funds for our son Jake’s school - New College Worcester.
For those of you that don’t know our story, here is a quick catch up...
Jake was diagnosed with a brain tumour at aged 3. 11 Neuro operations later and he is at an amazing school in Worcester for vision impaired/blind students.
Jake is vision impaired, and we made the tough decision for him to board weekly at New College Worcester.
What an amazing school!! It has given Jake an opportunity to flourish academically, make amazing friends and experience an wonderful array activities whilst challenging himself each and every day.
This brings me back round to my challenge...
NCW are taking their summer challenge to the river!
This is no ordinary event and over three days as a team of fundraisers we will Canoe approximately 80 miles whilst raising funds for the College.
As canoeists, we come from all over the UK and include former students, parents and footballers to bankers. We will start at Melverly and pass through the beautiful towns of Shrewsbury, Iron Bridge and Bridgenorth before finishing in Worcester on day three.
This is an epic adventure and one that everyone will remember.
We hope to raise £25,000 in sponsorship for New College Worcester.
NCW is a national, residential, special School and College for young people aged 11 to 19 who are blind or vision impaired.
Every student at NCW has a tailored programme, carefully planned and delivered to meet their individual needs in three key areas; academic achievement, independent living skills and involvement in extracurricular activities.
The opportunities provided to students in these three areas of provision play a crucial role in the development of confidence and self-esteem as well as preparing for life beyond our College.
Many thanks for your support Richard Douglas
