I had a coronary bypass at the end of February, I managed to recover quite quickly and went into rehab at the beginning of April. The rehab centre was Hearts & Souls in Buckinghamshire. The team there were good, friendly and helped me to be signed off as fit by the beginning of July.
At my last check-up they asked me to be part of the Hearts & Souls London Bridges Walk team. On Saturday 29th September, I will be joining the team on a half marathon walk (22.5 km) across London cross-crossing the 16 iconic bridges. The target time will be 4.5 hours. I thought I’d put my heart and soul into testing the work of the surgeon and the rehab team!
To encourage me and to challenge herself, after 18 feet and knee surgeries, Collean has agreed to accompany me on the walk.
We are asking you to encourage us both by making a donation in support of the charity.
As the photo above shows, we are both practising really hard and enjoying it!
About the charity
Hearts & Souls is a registered charity that needs to raise around £25,000 a year to fund the exercise classes, equipment and specialist trainers for the award-winning cardiac rehabilitation programme in Buckinghamshire. This helps around 2,000 patients get back to normal after cardiac events every year. This part of the rehabilitation programme is not fully funded by the NHS and relies on charitable donations. You can find out all about Hearts & Souls at www.heartsandsouls.org.uk
I’m practising really hard and walking every day! I am hoping you will help me show my appreciation to Hearts & Souls by donating to my page.
