Statistics suggest that cancer will directly affect 1 in 3 people in the Uk. At the same time the vast majority will be indirectly affected through the suffering of a relative or friend.

From a personal viewpoint I have been affected by both my own Dad and my Father in law fighting losing battles with this awful disease. They both went from being healthy and happy early 70 year olds to premature deaths in only 6 months each.

More recently a very dear family friend was diagnosed with breast cancer, at the tender age of 45. Fortunately she appears to have defeated the cancer and is now completing her preventative  treatment.

In all three cases above there has been one common force that has helped my family, my wife's family and our friends family to cope with all that this disease has to throw at you. That common force is MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT.

They are there for you 24 hours per day 7 days per week to do everything from give advice early in the process, to helping coordinate appointments between specialists, to the fantastic paleative care they provide as the disease does its worst to take your loved ones from you. They not only help ease the suffering of the patient but they help those close to deal with the mental and physical affects of coping with seeing that loved one suffer.

Given that  Macmillan have given my family and friends so much help and support, I feel it right for me to do something, which is challenging both physically and mentally in order that I can give something back in order that they can continue thier great work for the benefit of others.

For this reason I have happily agreed to join a group of friends in walking the 100Km or 62 Miles non stop from London to Brighton on 25/26th may 2013.
