Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
You may find this hard to believe but I am going trekking in Nepal in March 2010. I will be part of a group of ten plus the trek leader and a few sherpas.
We will be flying to Khatmandhu on 12 March 2010 and then on to Lukla a couple of days later. Try putting "Lukla Airport" in your search engine to see how hairy that flight will be.
The trek will start from Lukla and we will be visiting Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dugla, Kala Pattar and Everest Base Camp on the way up. We will then descend back to Dugla and cross the Cho La pass to Gokyo. We will descend through Dole and Namche Bazaar to Lukla. Lukla is 2,600 metres above sea level and we will be going up to 5,600 metres above sea level. I will be away for 3 weeks.
As part of my training I have completed the North Downs Way and have done some serious hill-walking in Scotland. I have also joined The Ramblers and a local walking group called EnBro. Most weeks I walk with the Ramblers on Sundays and with EnBro during the week.
It is inadvisable to drink any form of alcohol on a trek of this sort. So to get used to it I have become teetotal as from 2 January 2010 until the trek is complete.
I have decided to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society while doing this trek so that they can continue to support victims and conduct research.
