Story

I am running the 2022 London Marathon for Action Medical Research.

Action is a charity that focuses on funding medical research to prevent and treat diseases and disabilities in babies and children. When my son James was born there were some complications with his birth which meant that he wasn’t able to breath independently. This meant there was a risk that not enough oxygen was getting to his brain which can lead to brain damage and other organ failure.

To counter this risk James went through a process of Cooling where his body temperature was cooled for 72 hours with the aim of reducing swelling on the brain which can lead to brain damage and other organ failure. James responded really well to the treatment and all signs are that the treatment worked and there will be no long-term impacts associated with his birth.

The medical research into Cooling was funded by Action and they continue to fund life changing medical research for children and babies. I would be so grateful if you could donate whatever you can spare to this wonderful charity that has had such a positive impact on our family.
