Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page.
In 2014, I, Ria, lost my uncle Billy Sheetal Marwaha to bladder cancer. He was a father, brother, partner and son and a loved one to the many people who knew him. The news of his diagnosis was followed by a very rapid and relentless journey where despite his strength, he lost a battle against cancer that sadly so many face.
Tony Marwaha: "My brother was very brave from the moment he was diagnosed right up till he passed. He worked hard through his life and became an accomplished intellectual pharmacist who articulated his words like no other. He is dearly missed by his family, close friends and loved ones".
Both Ria and I have lost close family and friends to cancer, my mum and Neeta Aunty, my second mum, as I am sure others have their own personal stories. From diagnosis, to treatment stages and the anticipation of test results- as an individual and family it can be difficult to deal with. Though I was a devout attendant of Macmillan Coffee Mornings in school, I only truly understood the benefits of the holistic advice offered by Macmillan when my mum used their services. They talked through her concerns whether it was to do with her own treatment or us, her family. We would be grateful for any contribution to help towards the invaluable support given by Macmillan.
Watching someone you love fight cancer is not easy and we wanted to help in any way that we could. Therefore, we have decided to take on a challenge to support the individuals affected and their families by raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. This charity helps those with cancer live life as fully as they can and is a really important cause to both of us. Every donation is critical to help support these individuals and making a difference.
