FOCSA helps to improve the lives of some of the most disadvantaged children in Colombia. The charity does this by donating medical, educational and other vital equipment to hospitals and other specialised institutions that treat those children and improve the quality of their lives. 2020 and 2021 have been difficult years, nevertheless, we managed to donate to today over £60,000 to projects in Colombia, including specialised PPE equipment to 13 rural hospitals; we delivered food parcels, seed, fishnets and garden tools to remote indigenous communities in three different areas of the country.
The Hospital of Guapi, Cauca, is located in a very rural part of Colombia. It serves a community of 30.040 people which includes children in urgent need of help. It is the only one with 24 hours of E&A service.
This project is mainly to provide the necessary attention to the maternal, anti-natal and newborn babies in order to raise healthy children. The hospital is in urgent need of a portable ultrasound machine, infusion pumps and other important medical equipment to supply the pediatrics service.
