Story
Rhys sadly passed away on Friday 27th October 2017, aged 31 at Charing Cross Hospital, London. In the first year, we have raised an outstanding amount of money (£20,155.15) while searching for answers to the cause of Rhys' death.
As many of you already know Rhys had episodes of illness (as he called them) in the last 4 years of his life. Rhys faced the uncertainty with his health with so much bravery and strength. Even in the darkest moments of his hospital stays and periods of illness, Rhys’ ability to remain positive and reassure his friends and family was astounding. Rhys never moaned, complained or asked ‘why me?’ but always focused on getting well and living life to the full.
After Rhys' death, the doctors continued to carry out extensive research and testing and concluded that Rhys had a very rare blood condition 'Thrombotic Microangiopathy' otherwise known as 'TMA'.
Due to the phenomenal care that The Imperial College Hospitals gave Rhys during his illness, we have created 'The Rhys Gould Bursary' in partnership with them to help raise awareness, fund research and fight Rhys' rare illness.
Rhys will be forever missed however this money can be used to create a legacy that he would be proud of.
Rhys will never be forgotten x
