Story

Thank you for clicking the link and reading my story. Ive decided to participate in 2 challenging marathons within a week of each other in April, running to raise awareness and funds for Bowel cancer research under Bowel Research U.K.

The challenge of completing back-to-back marathons may seem difficult, (and no doubt will be) but I will not cave in. This reason is what is motivating me to keep stomping the pavement. The Manchester Marathon is the second largest in the UK and the fourth largest in Europe, while the London Marathon is one of the 6 major marathons worldwide.

On January 24th, 2023, I decided to stop drinking as I realised the negative impact it had on me, my life and my loved ones. At the beginning of April, I discovered a new passion for running. Fueled by my drive, I participated in my first race in July The London Asics 10K. The fire within me grew, pushing me to conquer new challenges and earn medals as proof of my accomplishments. I can confidently say running has become a crucial part of my everyday life. Having completed 10K’s and half marathons regularly it’s only natural to try take on a full marathon. (In my terms, twice)

Bowel cancer, has left a devastating mark on my family. Tragically, within a span of 7 months, we lost my Uncle and my Dad to this horrible disease, and mourned the passing of their cousin to the same affliction. Such heartbreak serves as a daily reminder of the urgency to combat this formidable foe.

Considering my limited experience in running, taking on the challenge of two marathons is not just a personal milestone, but a commitment to raise awareness and funds for Bowel Cancer research. Running in memory of my Dad and other family members is incredibly important. I humbly ask for your support in any form possible to join me in battling this devastating cancer. Together, no contribution is too small, and we can make a difference. Help me bring hope and healing to those affected by this relentless disease.

Thanks again.

Rhys 😊🩷🫡🏃🏻‍♂️
