Story
I'm running the 2023 Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday 1st October for Alzheimer’s Society.
Dementia affects more than 850,000 people in the UK. The aim of the charity is to help those people who need it most in many ways and to fund crucial research to hopefully one day find a cure. Dementia is a cruel disease which not only changes the life of those affected by the illness but also those around them. It slowly diminishes a persons personality with the most basic tasks becoming impossible, which then heartbreakingly becomes a 24/7 responsibility for those left around them.
I have chosen this charity as it means a lot to myself, my wife and our families. My wife has had to watch both grandparents live and suffer with this terrible illness for the last 5 years, whom of which both sadly lost their battles with the disease earlier this year. My Uncle Mark was also diagnosed with Dementia at the young age of 53 and has suffered with the Dementia for over 7 years.
So I would hugely appreciate your support in helping me raise money which will go directly towards such a fantastic organisation, who are working to make a real difference in the fight against Dementia.
Thanks,
Rhys x
