We use non-contact boxing to fight the impact of inequality on lives

Story

Hello all! I am running my first ultra (50K) in June and thought it would be great to raise some money for an amazing charity in the process!

I attended Bristol Boxing Gym (who support the charity Empire Fighting Chance - based in the same gym) for a number of years and it was a great place to be around. They have a supportive community and a wealth of knowledge which helped grow my confidence in my early 20's.

A bit more about Empire Fighting Chance...

We use a powerful combination of non-contact boxing and intensive personal support to challenge and inspire young people to realise their unique potential. We focus on vulnerable young men and women, including those excluded from school, involved in crime and experiencing mental health issues. Run from gyms in deprived communities, we offer young people a tailored programme featuring boxing, mentoring, education, therapy and careers support. Our work changes lives, improving young people’s education, mental health and career prospects.

About the charity

Empire Fighting Chance was born on the streets to fight the impact of inequality on young people’s lives. Our powerful combination of non-contact boxing and intensive personal support challenges and inspires young people to realise their unique potential.
