Story
Hello. I am excited to share that I am running my first marathon (26.2 miles) on Sunday, October 10, 2021. I have been aiming to complete a marathon for a while now, but I had to put the goal on the back burner. This year, it's my time to get to it in my favorite city: Chicago.
What are my goals for race day? The run is 26.2 miles. I aim to finish the race in 4.5 hours running at paces between 9-minute and 11-minute miles. I will start the race at 8:35 a.m. I’ll likely finish near 12:35 p.m.
Why support the Lynn Sage Foundation? I had to pick an organization to support to participate in this race because I am a first-time marathon athlete. With that said, I knew right away that I wanted to raise funds for a certain cause: to end cancer.
Lynn Sage is a Chicago-based organization that directs 94% of funds towards scientific research and education to prevent and improve outcomes for those with breast cancer. We will beat cancer by coming together. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for any donation towards this effort. How do you run for that long? It's tough. I have been challenging myself with long runs, workouts, and training with a run club in New York City called Rage & Release. But more importantly, if I finish this race it will be because I am having a good time, being supported by my loved ones, and grateful for each step/moment on the route.
----------
This race is dedicated to my family and friends who have to deal with the impacts of cancer until we find a cure. I might be running a marathon, but your race takes the might, will, and strength of a lifetime. Everyone who loves you stands in admiration of your continued fight.
