Story
Just before midnight on July 2, 2022, a group of Metro.co.uk readers and PAPYRUS supporters will head into the night to climb England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike. This amazing adventure will see our trekkers reach the summit in darkness, while finishing their journey just as the sun rises which perfectly reflects the crucial work PAPYRUS does in helping people find light during their darkest times.
Let’s be honest, it’s been a sh*t couple of years!
Whilst working as an expedition leader for 5 years pre-pandemic, I fully gained my sense of adventure and whilst I have taken on a new venture running a plant-based food business I have been left with a void without travel or adventurous excursions.
I have chosen this specific adventure and charity as, although I am currently not working within an environment to support young people, it is still something that is very close to my heart, with mental health being a prominent issue in the different fields I have worked with young people in, in the past.
My passion for food and my new business has given me the needed distraction when it felt like my freedom had been completely taken away, and I have found it tough. However, there are so many others out there that won’t have had any distraction.
Ways of dealing with trauma and also the adverse affects of a Global lockdown causing trauma for individuals in all ways, shapes and forms have made it apparent how the regularly accessible services such as PAPYRUS are crucial now, more than ever.
I hope that you are able to support me in raising much needed funds for this exceptional charity.
