I haven't run a race since the relay on sports day when I was 11 years
old and I was about that age when I last asked anyone to sponsor me!
However, both these things are now changing!!

My mum has recently been diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer. I
will be running (not walking or jogging!) the 5k on her behalf to raise some
money for cancer research, while she puts her energy into her
chemotherapy.

I am sure you are all aware why it is important to help fund cancer research (and other good causes, of course) so I won't paste a speech about it here.
