Story
Thanks for visiting my page!
I have decided to run the Race for Life this year as part of my ongoing drive to beat the bulge and get fit - but as much as I may whine about dragging my sorry carcass out of bed before I absolutely have to, or heading out for a jog in the miserable drizzle, I often have to remind myself that I'm really very, very lucky.
Cancer touches most of our lives at some point or another - I don't think I know a single person who doesn't know someone who has either fought, and in some cases, died from, cancer.
As a charity, Cancer Research UK rely overwhelmingly on the success of fundraising events such as Race for Life to continue our life-saving research into the prevention, treatment and cure of all forms of cancer.
5k might not seem far to most people, but trust me - from someone who didn't run this time last year, 5k is quite an achievement! It's also a stepping stone on my way to my ultimate goal of running a marathon before I'm 30, and I welcome all and any support along that route...
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
(ps - if you're around Battersea Park on the evening of Weds 3 May, let me know - I'm sure I'll be gagging for a G&T once I've crossed the finish line!! Plus, I promise the comic value of the colour of my face will more than make up for being out on a school night...)
