Huge thanks to everyone who supported my Race for Life this year, it was a scorching hot Sunday with the sun blazing down and the after effects of a friends 40th the night/morning before, I knew it was going to be a bit of a challenge! But with a new course with not so many hills it was better and I finished with the traditional sprint finish in a respectable 30 mins. Not my best time but I was still very happy with that.
Well done to my mum, sister Sarah, daughter Danni and unofficial step daughter Deilani for completing the race in under an hour with blister stops and wee stop (the 6 year old not the older ones!)
I am so proud to announce that £2,520.00 will be making its way to Cancer Research UK and thanks to all for your kind messages of support.
I don't know what the next challenge for CRUK will be but I may concour one of my all time fears of heights and do a sky dive....and for someone with a fear of heights, trust me it will be a huge feat!
Thanks and love to you all.

1st July 2010. Dear all, well on the 11th July I will, with many thousands of others, be running around Westpoint for Cancer Research UK. I hope the weather is better than the driving rain of last year and will probably be a heatwave!! My mum Val, sister Sarah, daughter Danni as well as other relatives will be taking on the challenge so please please support us.
I am not looking to break any land speed records as my fitness level is not quite as it was when I was training for the marathon but I will run it as best I can. It will be another hard race emotionally as this will be the first year without Auntie Sandra, an avid supporter of the Race for Life and is so very very missed by us all. Also we have recently been hit with the news that my Auntie Carole is now fighting skin cancer and knowing her she will beat it no worries (she isn't my god mother for nothing!!) Another name to add to my back is dear Alan Abbott of the Bloodhounds skittle team who sadly lost his fight in March this year, he was a huge supporter of everything I did for Cancer Research and I said I would run this one for him as well.
So tissues and blister pads at the ready we will battle on to get around this course the best we can with as much mascara running down our face through sweat as there will be tears no doubt.
Please dig deep and help me raise another fantastic sum to help CRUK help our dear friends and family with their battle.
Thank you

19/05/10 Well what another fantastic way to end the Shoot Out season at Weston, thanks to the Ali G A&B team, Robins A, Devizes Stags and all the others for their generous donations and support. I am well on my way now to hitting £2,500 target. Thank you all again. Rachel
Dear friends,
Well its that time of year again and the family and I are in training (fund raising training) for the Race for life at Westpoint Exeter on 11th July.
Last year I completed the New York Marathon in a reasonable 4 hours 35 minutes and 56 seconds raising £11,235.00 for Cancer Research, I also did the race for life with all the family in the pouring rain as well in less than 4 hours thankfully! This year having done no running since the marathon after suffering problems with my knees, I am about to don on the running gear and get ready pounding the streets! hardly 26.2 miles but far enough.
Well what a lot has changed in the twelve months, losing my dear Auntie Sandra to cancer a week before flying to NY was horrific and she is missed so much every day, also losing dear friends and Shoot Out members to this dreadful disease brings home how much fund raising events like this are needed. Alan from the Bloodhounds skittle team supported me every year with his team and I will be thinking of you as I run as will I be thinking of many others.
This year the generosity has amazed me again, teams and individuals now know that I am always going to do something for Cancer Research and my total stands at a whopping £1828.00. I would love to get £2,500 this year so please help.
Big thanks to all for their support especially the Welsh Wizards for an amazing £1,250.00 donation, WOW!!!
Good luck to all those competing and keep up the good work
Lots of love
