Ruth Allington/Bone, Pippa and Alice MacBain, Christine, Julie and Clare Allington, and Christine and Harriet Gardiner will run and walk the Race for Life on 15th July 2007 at the Weald and Downland open air museum near Chichester. This is something that we can do together both to support Cancer Research and celebrate Pippa's return to normal life after breast cancer in 2005/06.  

Message from Pippa:  "Last year I was in awe of Ruth running the Race for Life and raising a fantastic £1,000 or so. When Ruth asked this year if Alice and I wanted to join in I jumped at the chance (as long as I was allowed to walk!). On Sunday 15th July I will be surrounded by all those people who made the last year bearable and kept me going. 

I was fortunate to benefit from an experimental technique where scientists cultured my tumour in the test tube and then exposed it to different chemotherapy drugs to see which ones killed the cells. It was an interesting result as the 'gold standard' drug was not effective on my tumour cells. However, this technique did enable the oncologists to tailor my chemo for my tumour. Not only did it seem good scientific sense but it also made me feel more 'in control' of my treatment. Raising money for Cancer Research will enable more research to go on and hopefully discover lots more techniques to help treat cancer patients in the future."
