(30th April 2013)
Hey, I'm Megan. I decided to register for race for life after finding out my Grandma was incredibly unwell with cancer this April. She realised something was wrong when she started struggling to breath, as an ex-midwife she knew not to put it off and went straight away. Unfortunately she found out she had lung, breast and liver cancer. So, currently she's terminally ill and living at home. The NHS have given her some tablets to take to affect the breast cancer in some way, I'm not really being informed as obviously my parents are finding this incredibly difficult. My Grandma's had breast cancer before but she got the all clear after having chemotherapy.
My Nana Sal also became really ill with bowl cancer when I was a bit younger. As soon as she found out she had to stay in hospital till she passed away.
Hearing on the Bupa advert that 1/3 people are directly affected by cancer scares the living daylights out of me.
I'm running for Race for life this year to lower this statistic and hopefully saving someone's life with the money I raise even if it's not someone close to my heart.
