Story
I ran my first 5k for Cancer Research last year, in memory of those friends and family lost to cancer or in support of those currently fighting it. I also planned to run 10k for them in October 2010.
Unluckily i fell over at the start of September 2010 and broke my arm, dislocated my elbow, tore the meniscus cartilage in my knee, chipped my front tooth, cut open my lip and chin and suffered whiplash and a multitude of cuts and bruises (!) so i couldn't do my 10k run.
Four rather painful months (and about 38 hours of physio) later, i am almost fixed and now my arm is just about strong enough to use crutches, i'm waiting for an operation to finally fix my knee so i can start running again.
Today i've booked my knee operation for March and i've also paid for my spot in The Cancer Research UK Race for Life 10k run on 30 July 2011.
By the time i'm allowed to run again in May 2011, i'll have just ten weeks to train for this, my first 10k, and i'll be starting from scratch again (as I won’t have ran at all for 9 months, gulp!) so i'd like as many of you as possible to sponsor me and keep me on track so i can run my best for this great charity!
