We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

On Sunday 3rd July 2011 I will be taking part in Blackheath’s 10km Race for Life to raise money for Cancer Research UK.  Laila, my daughter (who will be 11 months old in July), is joining me and plans to complete the route from the comfort of her pram!

We are joining Race for Life to celebrate my Little Mum, who most of you know was diagnosed with Oesophageal  Cancer in February 2010.  Thankfully Mum was given the all clear in August 2010 after fighting her way through an aggressive treatment regime.  She is still battling the after effects of the harsh chemo-radiation she received and is left with difficulties swallowing food.  She continues to face physical and mental challenges caused by her cancer on a daily basis.

I will be joined by my good friend Amelia and her son Ethan.  Ethan will be 10 months old in July and is also taking part in his pram.  Ethan’s Dad, Brendan, died in the last days of 2010 following the return of his leukaemia and sudden complications.  We remember Brendan dearly during this event, as always.

Please sponsor us to help Cancer Research UK’s on going work to improve the survival rate of those diagnosed with cancer, further research in to more successful and kinder cancer drugs, and eventually, to find a cure for the disease in all its forms.
