Not many people know this (well, they will now!) but a few days before christmas 2010 I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. The type of cancer I have is Adenocarcinoma of the cervix which can be difficult to detect with smear tests. It accounts for only 10-15% of cervical cancer cases in the UK.

I have roped my sister and Laura into doing Race for Life with me to help raise money for Cancer Research UK. If it wasnt for the fab work that they do the survival rate that I've been given of 90 - 95% would be alot lower.

Everybody knows at least 1 person who has/has had cancer. When they say those 3 BIG words to you ("you have cancer") your whole world falls apart. It affects people of all ages all over the world. If we can raise as much money as possible maybe they can find a cure to save many other lives... or at least make the survival rate higher.

I will be walking/power walking most of the 5k but I am determined to run at least 1 mile of it (Yes Laura, suprise, we're going to run for a bit!ha ha) Hopefully I will be well enough after my treatment to do this, otherwise I will just walk the whole way!
