Fundraising for Cancer Research UK
Thank you for visiting my Race for Life fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Events like Race for Life are an important way in which Cancer Research UK is able to fund its life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. By sponsoring me now you could help more people survive cancer.
We are racing this year in memory of our Dad, David Arthur Harrison who sadly lost his brave battle against cancer on 29th January 2008.
Dad was an incredible man. He was our protector, our role model and our friend. He was a loving husband to Babs, a Dad to Tracy, Julie and Matthew and Grampy to Hayden, Joe, Charlotte, Joey, Rosa and Freddie.
Dad bravely battled 4 primary cancers. Yes, 4! He was first diagnosed with Kidney cancer 14 years ago and underwent surgey to remove his left kidney. 5 years ago another tumour arrived in his bowel and he had his entire large bowel removed. He stood up against this disease and made an amazing recovery. A brain tumour was discovered back in September 2007 and he was determined to fight it yet again. Surgery was a success and we were all hopeful of a good recovery. Unfortunatley we were all devastated to find a 4th tumour. This time Dad could fight no longer. The cancer took over and a week after being told, he passed away peacefully with his family around him.
Dad never really believed that cancer would get the better of him and neither did we. He had always faced the disease with dignity and a strength of character that most of us can only hope for. We are all so very proud of him.
We are racing this year in Oxford. This is where Tracy ran her first Race For Life and Dad was there to proudly meet her at the end. He won't be there this year and we know it will be an emotional day for us all. But we also know he will be cheering us on from wherever he is now.
Many of you reading this will have been touched by cancer too. Please let us know and we will "run" for you too.
and... don't forget the boys (Matt, Wayne and Tom) who will be running for Bowel Cancer in the afternoon!
Team members: Julie Higgins, Charlotte Higgins, Rosa Ashley Higgins (in her pram), Tracy Morse, Babs Harrison, Michelle Harrison (and kids!) and Bev Roberts.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me - Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, at least an extra 25% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you when you tick the Gift Aid box.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support - together we will beat cancer.
David Arthur Harrison, at rest 29/1/2008 aged 68 years.
PEACE PERFECT PEACE
