Story
I'm running 5K
Believe it or not. The gal who smoked too much, ate too much, drank (a little) too much, worked too much and didn't move around enough. My previous attempt at running ended up with a torn calf muscle (ouch!), but this time I'm doing things differently - properly training myself up - and I'll be ready to run 5K to beat cancer on the 4th of July.
Running on Independence Day
OK, so I know it's not a big holiday here in the UK. But it means something to this American gal. I lost two grandfathers to cancer - and one of them died from prostate cancer which did not need to happen. This is a treatable disease if caught in time. He would have had a lot of years left and I don't want other people to lose decades of time with their fathers and grandfathers. So I'll be running for Bill - my grandfather - and Bill my son - hopefully he'll get old in a different world where men can live long and productive lives even if they do contract prostate cancer.
