Story

Well as you all know and for those of you who don't...i was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and then in feb 07 i was then told it had gone secondary to my liver which then meant i was terminal, the doctors told me that i have between 12months and 5 years to live depending on how and if they can control the cancer to prolong my life..i went on tamoxifen for 18 months and they also induced and early menopause as my cancer feeds off oestrogen the female hormone so this meant no chance of babies for me...i was 33 when diagnosed and it wasn't the cancer that got to me it was the fact it was killing me and nothing i could do would control it...it had control of me..to be told at such a young age that your going to die was terrifying to say the least but this was my life and i wasn't going down without a fight...In june 09 i found out the lump in my breast had grown which meant the medication stopped working so i switched to letrozole and they also told me i would have to have a masectomy..losing a boob was like losing my femininity but also a small price to pay...so i told them if your going to whack one of them off youmay as well take them both..so they did..they then also found it had gone to my lymph nodes and out of the 17 they removed i had cancer in 12...the surgery and recovery was hard work mentally and emotionally but i got there in the end...in april 2010 i was given reconstruction surgery which meant me having some of my feminity back by having my breast built...i told them i wanted them nice and perky...lol...didnt want them going south now did i...hehe..so after a painful 7 hours major surgery at christies i had my new boobies and i loved them...they great don't even move when i run...lol...which before i nearly knocked myself out if i ran i was that big...the surgery i opted for was an LD flap which meant they took my major back muscle the lattimus dorsi muscle and silicone implant to add volume..it was the most painful thing i had ever gone through and the recovery was and still is very painful as it can take upto 2 years for my body to recover from it...i was happy with my lil boobs and felt more confident and womanly...then in july it all started to go wrong again..i found a numbness in my chin and whn i had it investigated by my dentist it was found that again my new medication had stopped working and that the cancer had now spread to my bones..after scans and more scans it was confirmed that the cancer had now infected my jaw my skull and hip...devastated to say the least i thought this is it...this is the start of the end...i found it so hard to get my head around and for the past 5 months its been a really bad time for me with having biopsies and scans...then not to mention the pain and infections..how much more could this disease throw at me....its now feb 2011 and i am back at christies in march for another body scan as my gp found something wrong with my 7th vertebrae they don't know if it is fractured through the surgeries or if its a spread of the cancer...im now 37 years old and no matter how much the cancer throws at me i will fight it all the way...its chose the wrong bitch to mess with and im not going down without a fight...I wanted to do the race for life as to be able to give something back to the research teams and all medical staff and consultants is the least i can do...they are after all the ones who keep trying to keep me alive...so all i am asking for is a small donation to help me fulfill the journey...cancer doesnt care who it choses to infect...IT COULD BE YOU..MEMBER OF YOUR FAMILY..A CHILD..ANYBODY.....so i'm asking all of you who know me and all of you who dont..please sponsor me..even if its just a pound it all helps and it could help you one day as its helping me today...so please dig deep and together we know we can make a difference to somebodies life...like it has mine...thankyou..lotsa love..Heidi.

I  would also just like to thank all my family, boyfriend and friends near and far..close and distant for all your love and support these past few years..i know it hasnt been easy but i will always hold each and everyone of you close to my heart for the continuing love support and encouragement you give to me through the good bad and ugly times...your all amazing...i love you all...xxx

Just a little update on how things are going here..they found that the cancer had in fact spread to 3 places in my spine T7 T10 and T11 which meant that its on the move again...then they have also found it in my chest lymph nodes near my heart but hey me being me im like right lets get this battle going..i had a shot of radiotherapy to help the pain in my spine and i have just started my first lot of chemotherapy last week to which i am also having Herceptin running along side it which they call the wonder drug..ill b having chemo for about 4.5 months and i have it dripped into me once every three weeks so my next round is on the 28th april...ive been quite lucky as i havent had any really bad side effects but im sure ill have bits and pieces but you know what if it means i can have a quality of life and my life back then do what you need to do and ill do the rest..keep smiling and keep fighting...i just wanted to thank everybody once again for all the kind donations and comments its all very overwhelming to see how much support i have and i will do you all proud..i may not be able to run or walk the race as my chemo falls that same weekend but im gonna PIMP MY RIDE...WELL MY WHEELCHAIR IF I NEED IT.....lol...and i will promise you one thing though i will WALK THE LINE TO THE FINISH....thanks again everybody and ill keep you posted with any other news...love lots...xxxx
