Hiya Everyone!

For those of you visiting this page, firstly I thank you.

As you may or may not know I am participating this year for the first time, and I race for my mum, Barbara. 

Mum died on March 07th 2006 after an incredible fight against Ovarian Cancer.

She was source of strong spirit and inspiration, a P.E and swimming teacher all her life, and mum to myself, Jos and Adam. She loved many, and helped many more people.  The messages and sponsorship that came in via this website were read to her everyday she was well enough to hear them, and I know the love and support truly overwhelmed her.

I could write a thousand things about her and none would summarise how much taking part in this race means to me. She was my mum and my best friend, and I think that says much more than I would ever have space enough to write.

Her birthday was May 01st, two days before the race. It was a beautiful sunny bank holiday - we raised a toast to her, and sent up a silent wish that I make it through the race in one piece!!

She loved many, and helped many more people. Hopefully this small donation is one step towards us all helping someone else, like my mum, to live a life after cancer, and not be stopped short of living a liftime that others can only dream about.

I had intially set my fundraising target at £200 - unknowing of whether even this was do'able or not. Within 12 hours, I'd smashed it. Within 24 hours I'd more than doubled it. After then setting the target to £1000 - I had exceeded the target in under a week of setting up the site... I'm overwhelmed... Another target, £2000 has now been surpassed - so up another notch we go with all limbs crossed...

I've set a new target of £3000 and sincerely hope that with some help I can get there.
