More and more of us know someone who has been through the experience of being diagnosed and treated for cancer. It's unbelievably scarey but fortunately there's an awful lot of emotional support for patients as well as the treatment. My mum's cancer was caught early but she still had to have a breast removed - we're hoping that's now the end of it, but for many people it isn't.
