'I need a dollar dollar, dollar is what I neeed'

Hey everybody,

I'm running 10k on 9th July for my sins to raise money for Race for Life which is part of Cancer Research UK. Anybody who knows me will vouch for the fact that the only time I would normally exert myself in such a way would be if there was chocolate at the finish line (I'm still considering it as a tactic for motivation) but here goes...

As most of you probably know, my mum passed away last summer to cancer, after 10 years of fairly incredible fighting. She was, it is generally agreed, not only loved by her family, but by most people that knew her - truly a force to be reckoned with, but with the kindest heart of anybody I know. After her diagnosis, she ran a 5k race for life (whilst still on intensive chemotherapy) to prove to herself - and the rest of us - that nothing could stop her from her goals...and she got a decent time to boot. Not bad for someone who's only experience of exercise before she decided to enter the race was chasing cows as a child! It sort of makes sense that I chose to do this race to follow in her footsteps, and my goal is to raise more money for what I consider to be such a worthwhile cause.

This is a cause close to the hearts of many people, and one that does amazing work in trying to find a cure for such a devastating disease. I know you all probably have loads of friends asking you to sponsor them for one thing or another, but any amount would be gratefully recieved!
