Story

I have actually taken the plunge this year and entered the Race For Life - I am not sure whether I will be fit enough to run, but if not I will power walk.

I would like to thank everyone who has donated so far, without you it would not be possible.

Also my thanks to Nick Wood who has donated £100, but due to the wonders of the internet I somehow managed to pay it in as sponsorship money without showing his name on the list of donors - oops!

Thank you so much to Richard Ayling of Legal & General for donating £250 to boost the fundraising. It is very much appreciated.

Thank you too, John and Jackie Lower for donating £100, taking the fundraising to over the £1,000 target I had set myself.

18/04/06 - Lyn and I have just started our training this week and so far it is going well. We walked 4.2 miles in just over an hour. So hopefully by July we will be much improved on that!

01/05/06 - Oooooh - ouch !!  Training was going well until over the weekend I managed to pull a muscle in my back whilst reaching for a mug of tea !! HOW SAD IS THAT?  Well that's it for this week at least. Hopefully back into it again next week.

09/05/06 - We did a really good time today 7.8km in 1hr 10mins. Great improvement. One problem I have now pulled a tendon or muscle in my shin (it's apparently called a shin splint) caused by over-pronation. So there will be no more training for a few days or so. NORMAL TRAINING WILL BE RESUMED ASAP !

20/05/06 - Training is back on track - watch this space for more updates.

20/06/06 - For the last month or so one of our dogs Gilbert has been terminally ill so unfortunately training has been sporadic.

24/06/06 - Gilbert had to be put to sleep on 21/06/06. A very sad time.

06/07/06 - The big day is almost here. All of a sudden we are heading towards our last training day on Saturday (the day before the RFL). No more injuries so we are just going to go for it. We are aiming for a minimum time of 45 minutes - but hopefully much better than that.

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO HAS KINDLY DONATED TO THIS VERY WORTHY CAUSE ENABLING PEOPLE LIKE ME TO RECEIVE THE TREATMENT THEY NEED TO BE GIVEN THE GIFT OF LIFE.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

As a charity, Cancer Research UK rely overwhelmingly on the success of fundraising events such as Race for Life to continue their life-saving research into the prevention, treatment and cure of all forms of cancer. As anyone who knows me well this is a subject very close to my heart.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. I can also donate online on your behalf if you are unable to do so.

So please sponsor me now!
My target is £1000 - but it would be fantastic to raise more! I am one of the lucky ones - PLEASE help to save others.

I will be participating with my friend LYN so anyone who knows her can also donate online by going to her page.

Thank you so much for your support.
