Whilst to many of you Sporty Types 5K might not seem that impressive, to us it presents a real challenge. Alison has done no real exercise for three years due to a prolonged case of Glandular Fever, and Carol is the first to admit that her experience of running to date is almost entirely along train platforms in the rush hour.
Cynthia is planning to walk the 5K, and at present it is quite possible that she will complete the course in the quickest time, as Carol and Alison are in danger of actually going backwards if m.p.h. uphill falls any further.
We have decided to take part in the Race for Life in celebration of Vincent Atherfold Dewberry, Cynthia's husband of fifty years and Carol and Alison's father. The other two "children" (Graham and Simon) have been invited to come and "support" us on the day, on payment of substantial sponsorship and a large glass of wine after the race!
Whilst Leukaemia was not the primary cause of Vincent's death, it was certainly a significant factor. The three of us want to create something positive out of what has been a very difficult time, and your sponsorship will help us do that.
