You may or may not have heard... (bit weird if you haven't) but the Hospitality industry is properly mashup due to this global virus. Thousands of bartenders in the UK alone have lost all or much of their income whilst also having to face the mental challenges that come with not only processing job losses but the added stress of uncertainty. Lets face it... the situation is scary and grim for all.
The Challenge -
Reyka Runners around the UK to run a half marathon in their local areas in solo-darity for the hospitality industry. Runners must complete this distance solo or with members of their household. Runners will all run the half marathon at the same time on the same date to make this a momentous joint effort.
The Objectives -
- As many of our 200+ bartenders to take part. (They can walk/run up to ,or more than the 21km/13mile distance)
- To gain as many new bartenders in the group as possible to help build our cause. Running frieeeends.
- Bartenders out of work need not donate but we'd be grateful for as many Reyka Runners to share our Just Giving page on social media & with their friends and families who might be able to help.

#Standfast
"What is.... #Standfast?..."
#Standfast is a William Grant & Sons fundraising initiative that aims to support bartenders during these times of hardship and beyond.
#Standfast will TRIPLE funds raised for the Drinks Trust charity up to £5000! That means WHATEVER you donate will be tripled. Sorry if that's proper easy maths. Just trying to highlight the correct measure of gravitas... Soz
In Iceland they'd describe that gesture as AD KALLA ALLT OMMU SINA
(Translation - ' to not call everything your grandmother'. Use - 'to be a BADASS')
Reyka Runners began in January this year (when the attached cover photo was taken) and the over-arching aim was to motivate UK bartenders to spend more time running in nature in order to balance out their hectic lifestyles. So far the 200+ members have completed over 25,000km collectively which is humongous! That's the same as running from London to Reykjavik 13 times!
We'd now like to shift up a gear and utilise our nationwide network to help raise money for bartenders affected by this pandemic and also give our members something to work towards to keep them moving physically and motivated mentally.
If you are a bartender and would like to join us then you can find us on the Strava App. It's free to join and there are t shirts for running! WOO
