Motor neurone disease (MND) - or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in the USA - is a group of diseases that affect the nerves (motor neurones) in the brain and spinal cord that tell your muscles what to do. MND can affect how people walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe and even how they think and behave. MND affects everyone differently, it is life-shortening and sadly there is no cure available.

In our lab, we have recently started working on MND. We are trying to unravel disease mechanisms to develop new approaches for therapy. One of our runners, Carla, is funded by a PhD studentship from the MND Association. With this fundraising event we want to give something back.

The Spring Wolf Run, happening on the 13th of April, is a hardcore 10k run across raw natural terrain, with open ground, woodland, lakes & thick mud. This is a great opportunity for us to both improve our level of fitness and fundraise for a good cause.

This will be a huge challenge for us, as we have never done anything like this. So we will need your support to get us through this!! Come and join us in The Wolf Run and please donate! :)
