Story
Back in the day, when I was young and full of hopes and dream and naivety, I used to dream about being a photo-realism portrait artist. I encountered a lot of negativity however, and dropped it like a big pile of poop. At the time the fashion in art was more about installation pieces and interactive pieces and basically not what I wanted to do. Others were willing to "play the game" and just go along with what was popular to be able to get a good grade. I... am... strong willed? I'm stubborn as hell is what I'm trying to say! I just wanted to draw and paint and I only wanted to draw and paint people. Even more specific actually... I wanted to paint faces.
Once I realised that I had missed my artistic era by a few decades, I decided to leave it and come back to it once I'd been able to make money in some other form or fashion. Cut to 15 years later and I rarely pick up the pencils and paints.
I have no idea if I'm any good anymore but what I'm hoping is that by making myself set time aside each week to focus on my skill, I'll find the passion for it once more. I'm hoping that I'll actually end the month on a higher level than I started; I'm also kind of hoping that I'm good enough to be able to sell some on Etsy or something. I would love to earn money from my art...
I chose to do this at the same time as raising money for Braintrust because of how hard I find it to concentrate on one painting for a prolonged amount of time. I have to work my brain very hard to be able to see the colours, the undertones, the shadows and contours of each part of someone's face. It is really draining for me.
