Story
Thank you for visiting my page again ...
Well, another success under my belt. I cycled to Paris .... and I even enjoyed every minute of it. I am very pleased with my level of fitness and all the training paid off. I made sure I was at the front at all times whilst still enjoying the views and the birdsongs. The best moment was as we came up a very steep hill (the last one of the very many we were told would be it) and were able to roll through fields on a country lane. Some cyclists reached 40 m/hour but I managed to spot the Tour Montparnasse and at the left of it, Sacre Coeur sitting proudly on its hill.
Could not believe how easy it is to go up hills ... once I had worked out my gears and I tried to follow the experienced members of the group. I would probably have been able to go on for another day but alas, the only exercise I got on Sunday was to climb the 187 steps up to Sacre Coeur and have a 4 mile educational tour before enjoying a shared platter of meats and cheeses in Abbesses. Made the Gare du Nord just in time to catch Eurostar at 3.00 and falling asleep even before the train left. Shame the bar closed at 2.00am on Saturday night ....
Now, you know that your sponsorship is going to a good cause and not towards jollies. I paid for the trip myself and hope you will acknowledge all the good work that is done at the YMCA who really make a difference to local youths.
Also, as a reminder, I will walk the South Downs way from Lewes to Eastbourne on the 16th August 2009 (20 miles).
As you know, donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Reigate & Redhill YMCA gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
