Story
Kate joined ARM in August 2000. She first worked for the Processor Division on the verification of new cores, and later joined the Research and Development Division to work on software development research projects.
Kate was known for her technical excellence and thirst for knowledge. She was given her first home computer, an Acorn Electron, at a very early age and it was this early exposure to electronics and computing that undoubtedly triggered her passion for technology.
Chris’s recollection of Kate: “Going to Kate for an explanation of an engineering problem I was always impressed with how she would never be condescending – she would explain with good humour and always at a level you could understand.”
Dan about Kate: “I met Kate ten years ago when I joined the CPU group, and remember her as being fun, friendly, enthusiastic about her work and always willing to help. These qualities remained constant over the following years, and I'm very happy to have had the opportunity to work with Kate on numerous projects since, often late into the night fueled by copious quantities of sugary snacks and a shared desire to solve a problem or find a bug. She will be sadly missed.”
Bryan remembering Kate: “Alan and myself were blown away by Kate when she came in for interview. She was so switched on and enthusiastic. During her interview I stepped out and got the HR team to draw up an offer letter there and then which we gave to her before she left. It was an easy hiring decision – I can’t really take credit for it, anyone else would have done the same.“
Alan about Kate: “In my opinion Kate was one of the finest and most gifted people I ever had the pleasure to have worked with. She was exceptionally clever, had a great sense of humor and was extremely passionate about the important things in life (beer and habanero hot sauce).”
And finally quoting Mike: "I am sure that all who knew her will remember her as both a wonderful colleague and a great engineer.”
