Derek Beeston, aged 83 years old, sadly lost his battle to Lewy Body Dementia on the 30th January 2017.
He was an incredibly generous, well loved, funny man, who knew just when to pause, make a joke, or reprimand someone for taking the wrong exit on a long-winding trip to the countryside! An avid crown green bowler, life for him at Firth Park Bowling Club was always packed full of tournaments, doubles, singles, indoor and out. He has many a life-long friendship forged from the club.
A life member of Firth Park Working Men's Club, (very proud to gain his status!) never short of time to squeeze a half of John Smiths in before zigzagging his way home for a lovingly cooked Sunday-dinner.
A travel enthusiast, Derek would always aim for the exotic, summery excursions, farther afield in sunny climes with wife Edna, and later on taking just as much enjoyment from a day to the seaside. His proudest moment being his flight on the Concorde, with daughter Jayne.
His family remember him for the funny times, the sad times, being a proud husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, the wisdom, chuckles and life lessons.
He has now left us for more exciting journeys, on that Number 5 bus....
His legacy lives on.
Rest In Peace Derek, Dad, Grandad and Big Grandad...
