Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We sadly lost Dad on 25th November 2021. As many of you may know, he was diagnosed with dementia, which robbed him of a peaceful retirement after a successful career followed by many years of fundraising for several charities.
What started as mere forgetfulness progressed to not knowing which city or even country he was in when he travelled. It was quite stable for a while, but during the Covid lockdown the lack of social interaction caused his condition to rapidly deteriorate. He frequently didn't recognise his own wife or home. By the time lockdown was eased he had become withdrawn as he was not able to participate in discussions any more, which was a shock for those of us used to his lively conversation.
There is still no cure for dementia. The condition caused Dad and the rest of the family a lot of distress so it seems only right to support a charity that helps families cope with this disease as much as possible
