Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In October 2020 my mum lost her battle with cancer, just a few months after being diagnosed and told it was incurable.

Following a short and painful battle, she went rapidly downhill and we reluctantly agreed for her to go to John Eastwood Hospice. When she left in the ambulance, I honesty thought it was the last time I would ever see her.

Just a few days later, I went to visit her and found her sat up in bed, eating food, and looking like my mum again. It was an amazing transformation. While the staff couldn't save her, they did give her dignity back and something that money cannot buy - time.

We had a few more precious weeks with mum at home, that simply wouldn't have been possible without the care provided by John Eastwood. The staff are amazing people who work in a difficult environment, but they work wonders and they treat patients and family with respect, patience and support that goes above and beyond.

They need funds to carry on delivering the care that they do, and to buy equipment that can make a huge difference to the comfort of those who are coping with painful illnesses and the mental anguish of facing their final days.

This year, I wanted to do something more than a simple run, so I've decided to attempt the David Goggins 4 x 4 x 24 challenge. Starting on Friday 13th March, I'll run (and no doubt sometimes walk) 4 miles every 4 hours, for 48 hours.

I'll record each of the 12 runs on Strava and aim to provide updates on Instagram and Facebook over the two days whenever possible. It won't be easy and it will hurt, but hopefully I can raise some money to help John Eastwood to help people like my mum.
