Story
In 1977 a debate began as to who are the finest athletes in the world. The Mid-Pacific Road Runners, Waikiki Swim Club and famous Flemish cyclist Eddy Merckx all argued that their sport hosted the fittest. It was suggested by US Navy Commander John Collins that the dispute be settled in a race combining the three existing long-distance competitions, and the winner be crowned "Iron Man"... AND SO IT BEGAN.
On 22 May 2010 I will be competing in the Lanzarote Ironman Triathlon to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The challenge is made up of a 2.4 miles swimming, 112 miles cycling and a 26.2 miles running which I aim to complete in approximately 11.5 hours, matching the original Ironman winning time.
Thank you for your support.
