Running the London Marathon 2024 for Florence
After a long period of extensive treatment for neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer, beautiful Florence lost her fight for life, she was just two and a half years old. A RedSky team will be running the 2024 London Marathon in her memory, to raise funds for the Children with Cancer UK charity.
Florence’s aunt, Development Manager Elizabeth Eyre, is delighted to be part of the 11-strong team running in her memory.
“Dear little Florence was diagnosed with neuroblastoma when she was just 10 months old,” said Elizabeth. “I saw the suffering that she endured during 20 months of treatment and the massive impact this had on the family. It was a heartbreaking and very difficult journey.
“For families that lose a child to cancer, that journey never ends. The birthdays come and go, making you think about what your child would be doing if they were still here, and about the tragedy of a young life cruelly cut short.”
The Children with Cancer UK charity understands the shock, sadness and fear that comes with a childhood cancer diagnosis, and provides much-needed support, comfort and hope to children like Florence and their families. It’s also working to develop safer, kinder and more effective childhood cancer therapies, and investing in childhood cancer research that would otherwise go unfunded.
Thank you to everyone who supports the RedSky team’s fundraising efforts for Children with Cancer UK and helps us to reach our £17,000 target. Around 10 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK and every penny you donate will make a difference – for them and for their families.
